An Interview with Timothy Wesley

 

Our conversation with Timothy Wesley, a lecturer in history and religious studies at Penn State University and affiliate of the George and Ann Richards Civil War Era Center. In our interview, we discuss Wesley’s latest work The Politics of Faith During the Civil War, published by Louisiana State University Press. Wesley details the various camps of ministers during the Civil War and their thoughts on the intersection of faith and politics. He also describes efforts made by Federal officials to crack down on disloyalty and its subsequent impact on civil liberties.
