Featured Event: 38th Annual DC Historical Studies Conference - Thursday, November 3rd - Sunday, November 6th Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library Conference events include the 2011 Letitia Woods Brown Lecture, “Lincoln’s Citadel: The Civil War in Washington, DC” (by Kenneth J. Winkle, Professor of History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln), sessions on "Toward a Digital History of Civil War Washington," "Civil War Defenses of Washington, D.C.," and "Contrabands in the DC Area," and several area bus tours.

November 1st @7pm - "New York Politics and the Civil War" @ Genesee Community College - T102 of the Batavia Campus.

November 2nd @ 7pm - War Memorial and Friends of the Grosse Pointe Public Library present "An American Iliad," a commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War @ Grosse Point War Memorial (Grosse Point, MI). 

November 2nd @ 7:30pm - “Lincoln, Race and the Fragile American Republic" @ the Wortmann Ballroom, Roanoke College (Roanoke, VA).

November 2nd @ 8pm - "Civil War Voices" @ The Barns at Wolf Trap (VA).

November 3rd @6pm - Adam Goodheart will discuss his New York Times best-seller, "1861: The Civil War Awakening," @ the Historical Society of Talbot County (Easton, MD).

November 3rd @6pm - “Is There Anything More to See? Civil War Photography and History” @ Martin Segal Theatre, The Graduate Center, CUNY (NY).
 
November 4th @5-8pm - "Designing and Restoring Philadelphia City Hall" @ Philadelphia City Hall (PA).

November 4th @ 6pm, 5th @ 2pm, and 7th @10am on PCN - “Lincoln and the Widow Bixby” with Judith Giesberg (PA area TV stations).

November 5th @10am - Civil War Memorial centennial and “Randolph of 150 years ago” @ Stetson Hall (Randolph, NJ). 

November 5th @10am-3pm - 150th anniversary of the Battle of Port Royal community commemoration @ Port Royal Plantation (SC). 
 
November 5th @10:30am - “From the Crater to a Tree Near Smyrna: The Tragic Odyssey of Obie Evans and other African Americans in Civil War Delaware" @ the Delaware Public Archives (Dover, DE).

November 5th @2pm - "Life of a Soldier," 1864 in the Washington defenses @ the Rock Creek Park Nature Center (DC).

November 6th @3pm - "Portrait of the American Civil War" performed by the Fairfax Choral Society Adult Chorus and the Washington Symphonic Brass @ the Hylton Performing Arts Center (Manassas, VA).

November 6th @7pm - “Clothing, Accoutrements & Weapons of the 1863 Cavalryman" @ the National Frontier Trails Museum (Independence, MO).

November 6th @7:30pm - Canton Symphony Orchestra “MASTERWORKS SERIES - In Remembrance: Civil War” @ Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, McKinley High School (OH).

Through November 6th - Nina, the 150-year-old Civil War era doll will be on exhibit @ the Orange County Regional History Center (FL). 

Beginning November 6th - “Gone for a Soldier: Jerseymen in the Civil War” @ the Macculloch Hall Historical Museum (NJ).
